Food Bank Program
Brunswick Street Mission is part of a network of food banks supported by Feed Nova Scotia. Need to access our food bank?
Registration: All food bank guests must pre-register on Wednesday morning, between the hours of 9am and 12noon. To register please call 902-423-4605.
Eligibility: Available to HRM households dealing with low income. Each household can only receive food support once every four (4) weeks. When picking up your food hamper you must have a Nova Scotia health card and proof of address.
Open: Anyone registered for a food hamper will be given a window of time to come on Thursday to pick up their order.
Note: You must bring your own shopping or reusable bags. We do not provide boxes or bags that guests can take with them.
Data Collection: You will be asked to sign a paper agreeing to be entered into a database maintained by Feed Nova Scotia, which ensures everyone receives a fair share of the available food.
By providing groceries, we can make a huge difference to the volume and nutritional quality of food available to a family. Almost half of our clients are experiencing a temporary crisis and we may only meet them once. However many families who rely on income or disability assistance have no choice but to use food banks regularly to get by.
Each year over 2,000 individuals access our weekly food bank.
